2008 Wind SymphonyThe Wheeling Wind Symphony, the top concert ensemble, has performed at the Bands of America National Concert Band Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana, Only 16 bands in the nation are invited to participate in this annual event. Wind Symphony is also a past winner in Down Beat Magazine's Annual Student Music Awards.  The Wind Symphony has been selected numerous times to perform at the prestigious Illinois Superstate Concert Band Festival hosted by the University of Illinois and is a two time Grand Champion of the Mid-West Music Festival. Wind Symphony has also commissioned pieces in its rich history.

2008 Symphony BandThe Symphony Band is the second of the two concert groups.  The band plays various musical compositions throughout the year, and the students participate in musical festivals and solo and ensemble contests. This past march the Symphony Band participated in the Midwest Music Festival. At Lemont High School, our Symphony Band. earned a division 1 rating, 2nd place in class and best brass section.This past march the symphony bad participated in the midwest music festival. 2008 Marching BandThe WHS "Wildcat" Marching Band has a rich tradition of excellence. Their 2008 field show is titled Celebration - The Music of Karl Jenkins. The show includes solos by Andy Panzer, Billy Kort, Nick Rodriguez, Ben Marcus, Evan Miller, and Kristin Durbin. In 2007, the band received numerous awards including: Lake Park (2nd Place in class "AA", Best Percussion), Marengo (First Place Parade/Field, Best Music, Best Drum Majors, Best Color Guard), and Lincoln Way (Third Place "AA", Best General Effect)

2008 Jazz Band 1

Jazz Band I, led by Brian Logan, has been tremendously successful in the past few years. More students from this group have been selected for the Illinois Music Educators Association Jazz Bands than any other school in the past three years. In the past year they have performed with Peter Erskine, Rob Parton, Tim Coffman, and Tom Garling. They were also selected as Grand Champion at two major jazz festivals. In November 2008 they will perform with the great jazz trombonist, Curits Fuller and in December 2008 they will perform at the 2008 Midwest Clinic.
